Gi Yu Jin Explained
The seven virtues (or principles) of bushido is the code of conduct adhered to by the samurai. The seven virtues are similar to the concept of chivalry in the west. Bushido, or the way of the warrior, is a system of moral principles and embodies a code of daily living for the samurai.

Each of the pleats of the hakama represents one of these virtues. Each of these virtues are central to the philosophy of aikido as outlined by O’Sensei (Morihei Usehbia)
At Aikido Gi Yu Jin we have selected the three principles that are the most descriptive for both the style and ethos of the aikido which we practice:
Gi – Integrity
Yu – Courage
Jin - Compassion
